Temperate continental in four bands. Humid summer in the insular west, dry in the east; hard winter in the north, mild in the south. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Onto that base fall three forcings that do not exist in the real world, and each one is datable, measurable, and enough on its own to explain a famine.
