The cities listed here are middle cities — between thirty thousand and a hundred and fifty thousand people — as distinct from the capitals, which pass two hundred thousand, and from villages, which stop at five.

They are where the continent actually lives. Two metropolises hold the headlines; the rest of three hundred million people wake up in one of these.
