On Earth the map is read like this. The Clerical Order, seven internal States under the One. Two republics — Serenissima Velinia and the Kantonal Confederation. Four independent kingdoms — Brytonia, Vykhradia, Meridia and Königsmark, two of them schismatic. The Pact Heptarchy, seven courts on the other side of the line. And the Limbus Mundi, which is not a country and has no people, only garrisons and what lives beyond them.
