They are small, and they command far more than their size justifies, because they are the only forces of the Clerical Order that answer to the One directly, crossing the seven provincial structures without asking leave of any Cardinal-State.

The Knights fight, the Inquisition watches, the Hospitallers count. And each one despises the other two for a specific and good reason.
Founding — three dates, not one
The history of the Orders is the history of a decree that did not work and a disaster that made it work.
1815 — the decree. Aurelianus I includes the refoundation of the Clerical Military Orders among the founding acts of the Clerical Order. On paper: three Orders, transversal jurisdiction, direct answer to the One. In practice: almost nothing. There is no budget, no recruitment, no doctrine. The secular crowns go on making their own war and buying their own mineral.
