Vykhradia — nineteen days of the autumn of 1888 — the Age of Stagnation
Historical context
Cracoviana had, on the eve, a hundred and ten thousand inhabitants.
It has, in 1890, sixty-eight thousand, counting those who came back.
Between the two numbers there are nineteen days of the autumn of 1888 and forty-two thousand dead, of whom seventeen thousand defenders and twenty-five thousand civilians, and two thirds of the industrial quarter, and the whole body of the diocese's purifiers.
