Historical context
This is the story of the victory on which the Clerical Order was founded, and it is the story of a thing that happened inside that victory and did not appear in the report.
In October 1812, thirty-two years after Ivandir, the continent of Cross had no Clerical Order, no One, no Congregation of Means, no purification licence, no price table, no Field Canon, and not a single written line on who may and who may not consecrate matter.
It had twenty-six years of Hashmal revelation, received in disorder by surviving clergy of dioceses that no longer had a bishop, and it had the certainty — learnt at Strazhka in 1783 and confirmed at Vehr Maior in 1798 — that a front holds while there is an Archangel and does not hold after.
